When the Pistols hit the scene in like '77, it was like nothing the world had seen before. Let's start with the name. SEX. PISTOLS. Some of the brain cells I have that survived that era want me to mention something about a band called the Flowers of Romance ... which either inspired or was inspired by the Sex Pistols. But no punk band from the early years mattered politically or musically like the Pistols. Not Billy Idol. Not the Ramones. Maybe John Lennon.
